Opinion: Except Tinubu Defects to Another Party, He May Never Rule Nigeria Because of These 3 Events

Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu still wants to be politically relevant and continues pushing his presidential ambition in Nigeria, this is the time for him to seek a refuge in another political platform.

Going by the recent events that have taken place in the ruling party, there is no iota of doubt that the former Lagos governor is the primary target and there is a calculated attempt to thwart his presidential runs under the APC.

However, with Tinubu's politcal experience, one would have expected him to have seen this coming. But perhaps, he was unable to understand the intricacies of National Politics compare to that of the regional one where he majorly holds sway as a leader.

Since the commencement of the second term of president Buhari's administration, there has been moves to clip Tinubu's wings and prevent him from flying in 2023.

These three scenario should have taught him some lessons ahead of time and form the basis of his next line of action if truly he wants to realize his 2023 Presidential ambition.

1. Oshiomole's treatment

It was a common knowledge that former national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole is Tinubu's boy. He practically installed him against the wishes of some of the party chieftains who prefered the continuity of the former chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun who was considered to be highly experienced and has the maturity and elderly wisdom to pilot the affairs of the party to the next level.

During Oshiomole's tenure, he was emphatically loyal to Tinubu at the detriment of the entire party. He nearly collapsed the party structure for Tinubu and was believed to be taking order from him before he would take a decision bothering on the affairs of the party as chairman.

As at today, he is nobody and has been reduced to nothing in the party. Since Oshiomole had been edged out of the lane, Tinubu has always been struggling to maintain his space in the party leadership.

It was believed that Oshiomole was locked out primarily to prevent Tinubu from having unfettered access to the control of the party at the national level.

2. Suspicious relationship with former president Goodluck Jonathan Almost every week, Jonathan will be at the Villa to hold a close door meeting with the president. He was always on an international assignment for the nation.

For Jonathan who had only completed a first term in office before he was voted out, offering him a juicy ticket from APC will surely be a big welcome for him.

Besides, since it was believed that presidency will rotate to the South in line with zoning arrangement of the party, someone like Jonathan will make a good replacement for Tinubu.

Tinubu should have sighted the disturbing alliance between president Buhari and Jonathan as a ploy to deny him of the ticket. Two days ago, APC governors were said to have visited the former president in his Abuja home as a way of felicitating with him on his birthday. Whatever this means is a clear sign that Jonathan is being gradually brought on board ahead of Tinubu.

3. Defection of Ebonyi State governor to APC He  had been seen as a force to drive the southeast presidential agenda and he is currently on a mission to realize it.

If Jonathan calculation does not work out as expected by APC leaders, Umahi will be a sure alternative. This is in a bid to reduce Tinubu to nothing politically and shut the door of presidential race against him in 2023.

Tinubu should either make a move and look for alternative party or wait in APC and watch his ambition crash like a pack of card
