Youths from Kogi West Senatorial District have stated that it is the zone’s turn to produce the next governor of the state.

They demanded that a major stakeholders summit be convened, which should, in turn, demand that all political parties must pick their gubernatorial candidates from Kogi West.
The parties should also, they added, find competent aspirants within the district and pick them to run in the forthcoming party primaries.
They stated this in a communique at the end of the Kogi West Youth Conference held yesterday at Kabba.
According to them, “the area would not play second fiddle in the incoming governorship election.
“Conference insists that it is the responsibility of the key stakeholders to educate the people and demands that every patriotic son and daughter of Kogi West senatorial district to vote for our own and end the narrative that we are minority in the state, which itself is untrue.”
It also expressed disapproval about the influence of of Senator James Faleke in the region’s politics.
They said: “Conference noted with grave concern the outcome of Hon James Faleke political group meeting in Abuja and (that it) was speaking for the entire Kogi West stakeholders.
“Conference observed that the growing trend called to question the legality of such conference in speaking for the entire region that comprises 7 LGAs (Local Government Areas)
“Conference called for collective, concerted and decisive efforts from various groups, civil society organizations and indeed all stakeholders to put an end to Faleke and some unpopular leaders’ “desperation” in the region’s politics.
