Manchester United hero Paul Scholes has opened up on his former side following their 1-1 Premier League draw with Southampton.

Man Utd v Southampton: Solskjaer previews Premier League clash

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes his former side need ‘three or four transfer windows’ before they’re capable of challenging Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.
The Red Devils continued their rocky start to the new season with a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
Manchester United took the lead through a Daniel James thunderbolt before Jannik Vestergaard levelled via a header in the second half.
And Scholes believes his old side require a lot of work before they’re in a position to challenge for silverware.
“On that showing today you have to feel there is a good three or four transfer windows before they get to where they want to be,” Scholes told Premier League TV.
“United are United. I think you almost have to write United off for the next two years, this team.
“I think until Ole Gunnar has cleared everything he wants out, there’s four or five transfer windows.
“United are going to be behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.”
United had a solid, if unspectacular, transfer window.
