The peace-loving and people Oriented Administrator of Adavi LG Council, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami yesterday convened a Security Meeting at the Council hall to discuss some vital issues bordering on security, breach of law and addressing other related matters that will ensure sustainable peace and crime free environment within Adavi Local Government Area.
The meeting had in attendance; the Administrative Team of Adavi Council boss, Ohi of Adavi, HRH, Dr (Alh.) M.I Bello, the Traditional Rulers of various Clans in Adavi, Religious Leaders, District Heads & Community Leaders.
Also present during the meeting were; the representatives from Adavi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), representative of the Civil Defence Corps and other Security Outfits.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami', having observed the due protocol, therefore intimated the audience the reasons for the Security Meeting, which according to him centered on the following:-
Stern directives from the State Government, ordered the immediate removal and dismantling of bill boards & campaign materials carrying His Excellency's name or 4+4 emblems
the incessant outing of day masquerades without due processes,
Excessive abuse of drugs by some youths in Adavi LG,
Effort to rescue some arrested youths from Inoziomi, remanded under the custody of law enforcement Agent,
illegal home burial of corpses without due process
trespassing and loitering of Market women along the highway at Ogaminana Market and,
finally measures to be adopted in curtailing this social menace, and as well put heads together to proffer lasting solutions to all the identified problems.
In respond, litany of contributions and suggestions from His Royal Highness, (Alh) M. S, Asema of Ezuka, the National Youth Council of Nigeria President, Comr. Mustapha Ismail, the Central Campaign Chairman, Hon. Yakubu Osivave Osondo, the Ohi of Adavi, Alh. M. I Bello among others were properly acknowledged by the Council boss accordingly.
Prominent among the speakers was Ohi of Adavi, HRH, Alh M.I Bello, thanked the Adavi Council Boss for this Security meeting; and thereby charged the Royal Highnesses as the suppose controller of Masquerades to ensure strict compliance of the custodians of any masquerades to follow the due process. Speaking further, he charged everyone to be vigilant and take a close watch to the patent & Medicine dealers to ensure they don't sell illicit drugs and always sell in accordance with Doctor's prescription.
While responding, Adavi Local Government Administrator, Hon Joseph appreciated the contributions, suggestion from the royal fathers and the stakeholders, thereby, came up with the following resolutions;
that henceforth, the intending Person who may wish to holds programme that require featuring of masquerade, should contact the Cultural Heritage in collaboration with his office to assert due process, urged the DSO and CSO to the LG to always get him notified in this regards," added that any masquerade found breaching the law, the custodian would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Secondly, the Council boss instantly setup Five Man committee to includes Royal Highness, the National Youth Council leader, Security agent and others, gave them term of reference to invite all the patent & medicine dealers for a meeting in order to curtail the sales of drugs without Doctor prescription and also impose tax force that will checkmate their excesses.
Further speaking, Hon. Joseph charged parents to monitor their children. Adding that, if anyone found wanting on such crimes, his administration will not spare them no matter how highly placed that individuals may be; charged the security agencies to come up with Security strategies to effectively control and combat crimes in Adavi Local Government.
The Administrator charged the Chief Imam and other religious head to caution their followers at their respective places of worship not to bury dead at home, noted that anyone caught wouldn't be spared, as the government will not hesitate to order for exhumation of such body for reburial and get the victim arrested.
In addition, he ordered immediate radio announcement and town criers informing the members of the public to remove with immediate effect, all campaign materials from community, urged people with vehicles and motorcycles to obtain plate numbers, warning the market women, hawkers and roadside traders to stay off the busy Ogaminana Market Road as surveillance would be mounted to watch the market arena.
Finally, Adavi LG Administrator intimated the audience that his principal, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has approved formation of Community policing to monitor local crime excesses, to be trained by Nigerian Police force in due course," saying the template and modalities would be make known at the appropriate time.
