RE-KOGI CENTRAL PARENTS CONDEMNS INCREMENT IN SCHOOL FEES

The Central Parents Teachers Association (CPTA) of all the Standard Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools in Okene LGA of Kogi State under the able Chairmanship of a renown educationist and a seasoned administrator, Alh Y. S. A.Shuaibu, has vehemently condemned the irrational publication about parents of pupils and students in Standard Schools in Kogi Central preparing for a showdown with the school management.

This respected body, CPTA, wish to quickly dissociate itself from the above publication and considered it not only baseless, false, malicious but also counterproductive. The public should note that all the Standard Schools are public schools and, as such, do not charge school fees let alone increasing it! What makes these schools stand out are the innovative reforms introduced in them since 2009. Amongst these reforms are the introduction of extended daily school period to cater for the needs of the gifted children and the immunity of these schools from academic disruptions occasioned by industrial actions which is very rife among our other conventional public schools.

In order to support these lofty goals, we the parents introduced a voluntary levy known as PTA Development Levy with which we have been complementing the efforts of Government and our achievements speak volumes.

This PTA Development Levy is voluntary and purely the initiative of the parents. As such, the Education Secretaries and headmasters in our Standard Schools cannot and are not surcharging parents in these schools. Their personalities have been violated by this uncanny publication.

We are quite aware and appreciative of the huge investment of Kogi State Government in ensuring security of lives and property. We are using this avenue to advise ‘’Kogi Reports’’ and other similar social media outlets to be a bit more professional and investigative in their reportage lest they throw any section of the State into avoidable commotion through unscrutinised and uncensored publications such as this one in question.

In conclusion, we urge the owners of ‘’Kogi Reports’’ to correct the errors in their reportage and to tender a public apology to the Education Secretaries of Kogi Central Senatorial Districts, as well as all the Head teachers and Principals of Standard Schools in the same District for defamation of character.

We wish to record more successes within and outside Kogi State in our Standard Schools and Colleges and wish to acknowledge the efforts of our dedicated teachers and Head teachers.
