History as Mojirola emerges first female NAKOSS President

History was made last Saturday as Comrade Racheal Mojirola, in a landslide victory emerges first female National President of the Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS).

Mojirola, who is studying geography at the Federal University, Lokoja, would lead students of Kogi state origin for the next one year along side other national officers elected with her.

The election which held at the Multipurpose Hall, Federal University, Lokoja, the state capital took place under a peaceful atmosphere as senators drawn from higher institutions around the country converged to choose the new Leadership for the association.

Females students seems to be inspired by the breakthroughs of Kogi women in the politics of the state as the election of the first female NAKOSS President is coming few months after the state University, Anyigba  also produced its first  female Students Union Government (SUG) President.

According to the immediate past  NAKOSS Senate President, Comrade Abdulrahman Enesi, who also chaired the electoral committee of the convention,  described the process as most peaceful, credible, free and fair in the history of NAKOSS.

Comrade Enesi commended the efforts of all Senators from the higher institutions for their orderly and peaceful conduct during the election, stressing Kogi students have shown through the election that they are way ahead in maturity and civility.

In a speech after her victory, the new NAKOSS leader expressed her gratitude to the students for the confidence reposed in her, promising not to let them down.

She also commended Governor Yahaya Bello and his Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu, for believing in the ability of women to lead, noting that his administration's inclusive governance is paving the way for female students to breakthrough in student unionism.

While applauding the support and encouragement she received from leaders and stakeholders of NAKOSS, Comrade Mojirola revealed that, welfare of Kogi students would be her priority, assuring of working out strong relationship with the government in order to achieve her lofty vision for NAKOSS.
