Gov. Ododo Leads Impactful Site Visit to Kogi ACReSAL Erosion Control Project in Olubojo, Ankpa

In a bold demonstration of leadership and environmental commitment, the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, on July 26, 2025, paid an inspection visit to the ongoing erosion control works at Olubojo in Ankpa Local Government Area, part of the Kogi East Senatorial District.

Accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Salifu, the Co-Chair of the ACReSAL Project and Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, and other top government officials, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to sustainable infrastructure and environmental restoration across the state.

The inspection focused on evaluating the quality and pace of the project’s execution. Led through the expansive site by the State Project Coordinator of Kogi ACReSAL, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto (OON), the Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far. He noted visible improvements in previously erosion-ravaged areas and commended the contractors for upholding high standards of work.

However, he reminded all stakeholders that the resources funding the project were secured through a loan and not a grant. "We must ensure that every naira counts. Quality and accountability are non-negotiable," he emphasized.

Addressing the Olubojo community, Governor Ododo remarked, "Erosion control projects are not just about roads or drains. They are about saving lives, preserving livelihoods, and restoring the dignity of our people." He assured residents that the government remains resolute in its mission to tackle all identified erosion sites across Kogi State with adequate resources and sustained attention.

The Governor also expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving Kogi State’s inclusion in the ACReSAL initiative, and to the World Bank for its continued technical and financial support. He highlighted that the project is already transforming lives and bringing hope to communities long threatened by environmental degradation.

The Olubojo site visit stands as another testament to Governor Ododo’s proactive governance and a renewed commitment to building a resilient, safer, and more prosperous Kogi State.
