The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, following his official announcement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a personally signed statement issued on Sunday, Alhaji Yahaya Bello described the appointment as a timely and strategic decision that reflects the President’s deep commitment to national security and institutional excellence.
According to the former governor, the elevation of the new Army Chief is not only a reward for consistent professionalism and patriotism but also a source of pride for Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
“Your appointment, announced by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is a clear recognition of your track record of integrity, bravery, and devotion to duty. It is a moment of honour not just for you and your family, but for our entire state, which you proudly represent at the highest level of military leadership,” he said.
Alhaji Bello reflected on his time in office and his administration's strong collaboration with the Nigerian Army in addressing security threats across the state.
“During my tenure as Governor, we were faced with tough security challenges, and I recall how the Army under officers like yourself stood firm in our joint efforts to safeguard Kogi lives and properties. That legacy of cooperation must continue.”
He expressed optimism that the new Chief of Army Staff will work closely with the current Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the area of peace and security.
“I trust that under your command, the Nigerian Army will continue to rise to its constitutional responsibilities. I am also confident that your relationship with my successor, Governor Ododo, will deepen ongoing efforts to rid our state and the North Central region of crime and insecurity.”
