Yahaya Bello: The Fearless Leader Who Rewrote the History of the Ebira People
I sincerely hope we can celebrate and appreciate him deeply while he is still here with us, not when he is gone after living a long and fulfilling life.
As an Ebira man, I feel an unshakable sense of pride and admiration for former Governor Yahaya Bello, CON, the true emancipator of our people and a symbol of courage, resilience, and visionary leadership.
Before 2015, many of our people remember the pain of being marginalized and sidelined in our own state. The Ebira nation endured years of humiliation, insults, intimidation, and discrimination. We were made to feel like strangers in our own land, our voices silenced, and our potential suppressed. Then came a man who dared to challenge the status quo, Yahaya Adoza Bello, fondly known as FGYB.
From the moment he took office in 2016, FGYB stood tall and firm like a lion among men. He restored our pride, gave us a sense of belonging, and ensured that the Ebira people could once again walk with their heads held high. He brought unity where there was division, courage where there was fear, and strength where there was doubt.
His administration prioritized equity, fairness, and inclusion across the state. He opened doors for the youth, empowered women, and bridged the gap between tribes and religions. He modernized infrastructure, improved education, reformed the civil service, and strengthened security. Above all, he showed what true leadership looks like—leadership rooted in service, justice, and compassion.
It is painful to see a few uninformed individuals from our community insult or misunderstand him, but I know this stems from a lack of awareness. Many have never gone beyond our senatorial district to witness the transformation he inspired or the respect the Ebira people now command across Nigeria and beyond.
Even after leaving office, FGYB continues to embody strength, wisdom, and influence. He remains a towering figure, a man whose legacy transcends politics and time. He is not just a former governor, he is the White Lion of Africa, a fearless defender of his people, and a shining example of what dedication and bold vision can achieve.
Let every Ebira son and daughter take time to learn our history, to understand the struggles of those who came before us, and to recognize the role Yahaya Bello played in rewriting our history. His name deserves to be spoken with gratitude and honor, for he did not just lead—he liberated, inspired, and transformed.
God bless Dr. Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, the White Lion of Africa, the emancipator of Ebira land, and a true son of destiny.
