Yahaya Bello Congratulates Ododo’s Children, Advocates Balanced Western and Religious Education

Western, Religious Education Essential to Children’s Upbringing, Says Yahaya Bello

…Congratulates Governor Ahmed Ododo on Children’s Graduation from Qur’anic School…

Former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, has stressed the importance of combining Western and religious education in the upbringing of children, saying both forms of education are essential to raising responsible citizens and building a peaceful and united society.

Bello made the remarks on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of the children of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, from a Qur’anic school at the Abuja National Mosque, Madrasa Section.

While congratulating the children on completing their Qur’anic education, the former governor said a balanced approach to education was necessary for the proper development of young people and for the promotion of peaceful coexistence in society.

He noted that while Western education equips children with knowledge and skills needed to navigate the modern world, religious education provides moral guidance and helps to shape their character, values and sense of responsibility.

According to him, both forms of education should complement each other in preparing children to become responsible members of society and contribute positively to their communities.

Bello commended the parents for ensuring that their children received Qur’anic education, describing the decision as an important investment in their character and future.

He said exposure to the teachings of the Qur’an would help instil in the children the fear of God, love, compassion, humility and a sense of brotherhood, values he said were essential for peaceful coexistence and a stable society.

He urged parents to continue to give proper attention to both the academic and moral development of their children, noting that the responsibility of raising responsible citizens begins at home.

Bello also congratulated Governor Ododo and his family on the achievement, expressing the hope that the children would continue to grow in knowledge, faith and good character and use their education for the benefit of their families, communities and the country.

He stressed that education should not be viewed solely as a means of acquiring certificates, but as a process of shaping individuals who possess the knowledge, discipline and values required to contribute meaningfully to society.
