Yahaya Bello's Governance Experience and the 2027 Kogi Central Senate Conversation

His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello CON, former Governor of Kogi State, remains an important figure in the political and developmental history of Kogi State and Nigeria.
As the 2027 political season gradually approaches, conversations about the future of representation in Kogi Central are beginning to take shape. Among those generating interest is the prospect of Yahaya Bello bringing his experience in executive administration to the National Assembly.
Yahaya Bello served as Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024. During his eight-year tenure, his administration identified education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, employment, agriculture and public-sector reforms as some of its major areas of focus.
Education was one of the prominent sectors highlighted during his administration. The state government reported investments in educational infrastructure, including the development and renovation of schools and tertiary institutions.
Healthcare also received attention, with the administration reporting investments in healthcare facilities and infrastructure across the state. Among the projects associated with the period was the Central Reference Hospital in Okene.
Infrastructure development was another significant part of the administration’s agenda. Various road projects and public infrastructure initiatives were undertaken across Kogi State, including the Ganaja Junction Flyover and Interchange in Lokoja.
