Kogi
State on Thursday emerged winner of the 6th LARFARGE LITERACY COMPETITION) North
Central, Zonal Level.
Kogi
beat five other states of Niger, Plateau, Benue, Nassarawa, Kwara States and
Abuja to win the zonal competition Courtesy of Two (2) pupils from notable LGEA
DEMONSTRATION STANDARD NURSERY/ PRIMARY SCHOOL, OKENE.
The
Two (2) pupils from LGEA DEMONSTRATION STANDARD NURSERY/ PRIMARY SCHOOL, OKENE emerged
winner with 67 Marks while Benue came 2nd with 58 marks and Kwara 3rd with 55
marks.
Hon.
AbdulMalik Abdullahi, the head of LGEA Standard School, while speaking at the
event urged other younger generation to take their education seriously in order
to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
Abdulmalik
thanks the management of LARFARGE. “LARFARGE, a leading Sub-Saharan
Africa building materials company
understands the value of education in the growth and development of any
society, “he said.
He
noted that the project commenced in 2014.
The Lafarge Africa National Literacy Competition engages
pupils from public primary schools across the country in activities that
measure and enhance their ability to read, write and spell correctly. It also
features literacy tests, essay/summary writing and spelling bees to evaluate
their reading and writing abilities.
We
call on the Kogi state Commissioner for Education, Rosemary
Ojochenemi Osikoya, to show state
government commitment to the promotion of science, technology and innovations
and also seize this medium to visit the school, LGEA Standard School, Onyukoko,
Okene for physical assessments.
There
is no any other time than now for the state government to honour the head of
the school, Mr. Abdulmalik and the teachers of that great school.

called on other students to always work hard to ensure that they achieve their
goals in life.
