Amari Sub-clan of Eziogu , had gone to court to challenge the purported coronation of one Usman Yakubu, as the Odovidi Eziogu Okengwe from Okaku subclan.

In a suit No CC/AR/9/2020, the plaintiffs sought for a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant or any other member from sub-clan in Eziogu from claiming or parading themselves as members of the royal family in relation to the Odividi of Eziogu.

The plaintiffs claimed that the traditional stool of Odovidi Eziogu Okengwe “is the prerogative of the Amari families in Okengwe and as such does not run from one sub clan to other within any of the families in Ogu Clan”.

Presence at the court were the counsel of Amari subclan and the counsel for the other parties, the representatives of five out of the nine parties joined in the suit.

At the court yesterday, defendant lawyer asked for adjournment to allow him file the necessary papers due to the late receipt of the summon by his clients, the presiding judge answer the prayer, hence adjourned to 22nd September, 2020 and on the ground that the month of August is a recess/sabbatical period for judges hence the need for extending the shifting to September.

On the interlocutory injunction appealed, the presiding judge further explained that while he will be on August vacation, there is a vacation judge that would be saddled with the responsibility to determine that, anytime from this moment.
