Building Bridges, Empowering Communities: Governor Ododo’s Vision for a Connected Kogi

In a decisive step toward inclusive governance and sustainable development, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, is advancing a vision that places rural connectivity at the heart of economic transformation.

With the recent approval and award of ₦7.3 billion in rural road contracts under the Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), the Ododo administration is not merely constructing roads, it is building bridges to opportunity, productivity, and prosperity.

These newly awarded road projects span across critical agrarian communities and are designed to serve as lifelines for farmers, market women, students, and health workers connecting them to urban centers, social services, and commercial value chains.

The roads, awarded to Geodata Global Services, include:

✅ Ogaminana – Obangede Road

✅ Ihima – Egge Road

✅ Oro – Uruvuochinomi Road

✅ Agassa – Idoma Road

✅ Abobo – Osara Dam Road

✅ Ihima – Ogidi Road

✅ Inare – Oboroke Road

✅ Abobo – Ichede Road

✅ Okuha – Enyerezi Road

✅ Okuha Farm Centre Road

✅ Adu Market – Ubogo – Ubantot Road

✅ Ohiana – Overe Road

✅ Idah – Edeke – Ogbogba Road

✅ Ankpa – Ojoku – Emere Road

✅ Ejule – Odu–Ofomu – Agala Road

✅ Ogba–Ugwolawo–Abocho Farm Link Road

Each of these roads is being constructed to asphaltic standard the highest level of rural infrastructure intervention under RAAMP. Once completed, these arteries will ensure year-round access, drastically reduce transportation costs, and enhance market efficiency across the state.

However, the story of this progress is not one of chance it is the result of deliberate, long-term planning, and the foresight of visionary leadership. It is important to acknowledge that the seed we are enjoying today was planted by His Excellency, Former Governor Dr. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON.

His bold decisions and far-reaching investments in governance reforms, fiscal discipline, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment laid the strong institutional foundation upon which the current administration is building.

Governor Ododo’s leadership continues this legacy with precision, purpose, and passion. His approach reflects a development philosophy rooted in equity and sustainability governance that must be felt at the grassroots, and progress that must be evenly distributed.

This is rural transformation not as a political slogan, but as a deliberate, measurable policy action. It is the quiet revolution of a leader focused on creating systems that endure improving not only mobility, but livelihoods, food security, and rural dignity. Contractors are already mobilized to site. Work has begun. The wheels of development are in motion.

Further reinforcing his commitment to infrastructure development, Governor Ododo today made a brief stop to inspect ongoing construction work on the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway while en route to an official assignment in Abuja. The Governor, accompanied by key officials of the Kogi State Government, commended the pace of work by the contractors and encouraged the workers to view the project as a vital contribution to nation-building.

What Kogi State is witnessing today is not just progress but it is purposeful progress, the fruit of a shared vision between past and present leadership. The kind that demands collective support, shared responsibility, and civic pride.

Let us, as a people, rise above partisanship and embrace the spirit of cooperation. Let us match leadership with unity and meet vision with collective resolve.

Governor Ododo has made a bold statement through action. Let us honor the legacy, support the future, and build together for a more connected, inclusive, and prosperous Kogi State.
