Governor Ododo Leads Security Heads to Yagba West, Launches Offensive Against Bandits

The surest way to solve any problem is to confront its root cause — and in the fight against insecurity, attacking the enemy remains the best form of defence.
Today, the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, demonstrated once again his proactive leadership and genuine commitment to securing the lives and property of Kogites as he, alongside heads of various security agencies in the state, stormed Yagba West Local Government Area. The visit was aimed at assessing the security situation on the ground and strategically launching an offensive against the bandits who have in recent times attempted to threaten the peace of the area, particularly around the border communities adjoining neighbouring states.
Governor Ododo’s approach to security has been widely commended for being strategic, intelligence-driven, and solution-oriented. His master plan for tackling insecurity across the state begins with identifying the root causes of criminal activities and then developing practical, long-term interventions to neutralize them.
A similar approach was adopted earlier in 2024, during the height of the herders-farmers clashes in Omala Local Government Area. Rather than responding from the comfort of his office, the governor personally visited the affected communities, interacted with the locals, and gathered first-hand information on the situation. His swift and pragmatic response led to the establishment of a Military Forward Operation Base in the troubled area; a move that drastically curtailed the recurring violence and restored peace to communities that had long been under siege.
The governor’s visit to Yagba West today is therefore not a mere routine assessment; it is a signal of intent and a declaration that criminal elements will find no safe haven anywhere in Kogi State. The coordinated synergy between the military, police, local vigilantes, and intelligence units under his leadership has continued to deliver measurable results, reinforcing Kogi’s status as one of the most secure states in the federation.
It is widely believed that following the governor’s decisive move today, Yagba West will henceforth become an unbearable zone for criminals and a model of community safety and resilience.
Once again, Governor Ododo has proven that leadership in times of crisis requires presence, courage, and action but not rhetoric. His message to criminal elements is clear and unambiguous: Kogi State is not a safe ground for bandits or any form of criminality.
