The clarion call from the good people of Kogi Central is rooted in lived experience, collective memory, and a shared vision for the future. It is a call inspired by leadership that was seen, governance that delivered results, and service that genuinely touched lives across communities and various wards.
The administration of His Excellency Dr Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, during his time as Governor of Kogi State, before handing over to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, stands as a defining chapter that reshaped expectations of purposeful and people focused governance.
Throughout his tenure as Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, demonstrated courage, discipline, and clarity of purpose. At a period when insecurity posed serious challenges to peace and development, his administration placed security at the center of governance.
Through strong collaboration with security agencies, investment in intelligence gathering, and firm political will, communities and various wards across Kogi State witnessed a remarkable improvement in safety. Areas once affected by criminal activities regained confidence, major roads became safer, and economic activities flourished. The emphasis on security during his administration restored hope and stability and protected the lives and property of residents.
In the area of infrastructure, his administration recorded visible and lasting achievements before the end of his tenure. Strategic road construction and rehabilitation projects connected communities, improved access to markets, and enhanced mobility across various wards. Educational facilities, healthcare centers, and public buildings received renewed attention, reflecting a commitment to improving the quality of life of the people. These infrastructural interventions supported economic growth and ensured that development reached different communities, including those within Kogi Central.
Beyond policies and projects, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, was widely known for his humane gestures and people oriented leadership style while serving as Governor. He consistently engaged with citizens at the grassroots level, listened to their concerns, and responded with empathy and action across communities and wards.
His administration prioritized youth empowerment and women inclusion, opening doors for young people and women to participate meaningfully in governance. This approach inspired confidence, reduced social exclusion, and nurtured a new generation of leaders before the transition to the next administration.
His leadership style during his governorship combined firmness with compassion and authority with accessibility. This earned him respect across communities, wards, and diverse social groups, strengthening unity within the state. The sense of belonging and shared responsibility for progress experienced during his tenure remains one of his most enduring legacies.
Today, the people of Kogi Central reflect on this record of service as they look to the future. There is a growing belief that the experience, vision, and leadership qualities demonstrated by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, during his time as Governor will translate into effective representation at the national level. The people believe that his presence in the Senate will amplify their voices, attract greater opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to national discourse and policy making, building on the foundation laid across communities and various wards before he handed over to Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA.
