Ataba Oporo Declares 2027 Bid for Okene I Assembly Seat
Hon. Abdulhameed Ataba Oporo has formally declared his intention to contest in the 2027 election for the Kogi State House of Assembly, representing Okene I Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The declaration, made earlier today, drew the presence and support of prominent figures across religious, traditional, and political spheres. Among those in attendance were respected Muslim clerics, traditional rulers, party stakeholders, and government appointees. Notable personalities included the Okene Party Chairman, Hon. Danjuma Anoze, Daudu Hajia Juwaretu Omadivi, Hon. Halidu Kadoka, Hon. Ibrahim Adabara, and Hon. Muhammed Otaru, popularly known as Black Arrow.
In his address, Oporo expressed a strong sense of duty and commitment to the people of Okene I Constituency. He emphasized that his decision to run is rooted in a genuine desire to tackle pressing challenges such as insecurity, unemployment, and poverty, while also promoting inclusive governance and sustainable grassroots development. He highlighted the importance of accountability and people oriented policies as central to his vision.
Oporo also took time to acknowledge key national and state leaders whose leadership, he noted, continues to shape Nigeria’s democratic journey. He paid tribute to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello. He further recognized the influence and guidance of his political leader, Hon. M. I. Onimisi Akami, alongside other stakeholders at various levels.
Describing himself as a proud son of the constituency and a representative of the youth, Oporo called for the support, prayers, and collective goodwill of the people as he embarks on what he described as a journey of service. He reaffirmed his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the progress of Okene, Kogi State, and Nigeria at large.
The declaration marks the beginning of what is expected to be an active political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections, with Oporo positioning himself as a candidate focused on service, development, and inclusive representation.
