Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, on Wednesday joined his successor, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside hundreds of Muslim faithfuls to observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Central Prayer Ground in Okene.

The gathering, which attracted religious leaders, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and residents from different parts of the state, reflected the spirit of unity, peace, and devotion associated with the Islamic celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

Former Governor Bello, who was warmly received by worshippers and supporters at the prayer ground, exchanged pleasantries with community leaders and residents shortly after the prayers. His presence alongside Governor Ododo further demonstrated the strong bond and continuity of leadership within the state’s political landscape.

In his message to the people, Governor Ododo called on citizens to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance, love, and peaceful coexistence, which are central to the teachings of Eid-el-Kabir. He urged residents to continue supporting efforts aimed at sustaining peace, unity, and development across Kogi State.

The Eid prayers were led by prominent Islamic clerics who offered special prayers for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Kogi State and Nigeria at large. The clerics also encouraged Muslims to uphold righteousness, compassion, and generosity in their daily lives.

Residents at the prayer ground expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of the celebration and commended both leaders for identifying with the people during the important religious occasion.

The Eid-el-Kabir celebration, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, remains one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim.
