The Kogi Students Support Group for Tinubu/Ododo has formally inaugurated its leadership and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for re-election at a ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Kogi State Government House on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the group, Comrade Salawu Enesi Habib, described the inauguration as an important step towards strengthening student participation in governance, promoting educational development, and advancing youth empowerment across Kogi State.

He explained that the coalition brings together student organisations from different institutions and communities, united by a shared interest in educational advancement and improved opportunities for young people.

Comrade Habib said the group's endorsement of President Tinubu was informed by its recognition of the Federal Government's policy direction on education, student financing, entrepreneurship, and youth development. He particularly highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as an intervention designed to help eligible students overcome some of the financial challenges associated with tertiary education.

On the state level, he said the group's support for Governor Ododo reflects its expectations for sustained investment in education, student welfare, scholarship opportunities, skills acquisition, and youth employment.

The Director General emphasised that political support should go beyond public declarations, noting that constructive engagement, accountability, and continuous advocacy remain essential to ensuring that students' needs receive adequate attention.

As part of its post-inauguration activities, Comrade Salawu Enesi Habib announced plans for a structured campus-to-campus mobilisation campaign across tertiary institutions in Kogi State. According to him, the initiative will focus on establishing campus coordinators, engaging student leaders, creating awareness about available government interventions, and strengthening communication between students and relevant authorities.

He added that the group would use digital platforms and grassroots engagement to promote informed political participation while documenting students' concerns on educational funding, infrastructure, welfare, and employment opportunities.

He further stated that the mobilisation exercise would respect institutional regulations, promote peaceful engagement, and encourage unity among students from Kogi East, Kogi Central, and Kogi West.

Comrade Habib reaffirmed the group's commitment to building an organised and inclusive student network capable of promoting meaningful dialogue between government and student communities. He expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, government officials, student leaders, and members of the coalition whose contributions made the inauguration possible.

The event marks the beginning of the group's planned mobilisation activities, with its leadership expressing confidence that stronger collaboration between government and students can help expand awareness of educational opportunities and promote youth development.

The Kogi Students Support Group for Tinubu/Ododo concluded the ceremony by reaffirming its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, while expressing hope for continued progress in education, student welfare, and youth empowerment across Kogi State and Nigeria.
