Rt. Hon. Damisa: Over 500 persons benefit from free medical care in Okene

No fewer than 500 people within Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency benefited from the free medical outreach organized by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Tijani Yusuf Damisa, Committee Chairman on F.C.T Area Council and Ancillary Matters commenced the program from Monday to Wednesday.

Abduljelil reports that the medical outreach which took place in Okene General Hospital, witnessed a large turnout of people, especially the elderly, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the exercise, Hon. Ustaz Ibrahim Kadoka, Program Coordinator, said the programme was to support women; youths and others in Rt. Hon. Damisa constituency.

Kadoka said that the programme would last for 3 days to show Ebiras that Rt. Hon. Tijani Damisa can perform excellently well in any task if given a chance.

Kadoka said that the medical outreach was to assist the less privilege who are nursing one illnesses or the other.

Kadoka commended the Rt. Hon. Tijani Damisa for giving a chance to exercise what he know how to do best.

In a chat with the specialists  on the annual medical mission which started  7 years ago, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Kadoka said not less than 10,000 people have benefited so far from the annual medical mission.

” Every year about 1,000 men and women die from different kind of diseases”

Explaining what informed the yearly free medical services, Kadoka who is the Special Adviser to Rt. Hon. Damisa said: “Damisa recognized the need to give back to the society and the primary aim of the free medical outreach is to save a lot of lives.  

 “Today, we are screening between 450 and 500 men in different illness and there are free drugs to be given to them.



In his contribution, Dr. Jerry Ohikere, a medical consultant handling the exercise, said that they are targeting over 500 people for the free medical treatment.

Dr. Jerry said that over 400 people have been treated so far and more are still coming.

He said that the treatment was to assist the less privileged, elderly, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

The specialist said that the treatment would include for Hypertension, malaria, blood sugar and high blood pressure among others while drugs would be given freely.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Memunat Muhammed Ametinigo, said the medical outreach was a great opportunity for those nursing one illness or the other to get treated free.

Memunat commended Rt. Hon Ahmed Tijani Damisa popularly called Asuehi and advised that the exercise be conducted every three months to assist the less privileged.

Another beneficiary, Hon. Abdulsala Ikunaiye, described the exercise as `wonderful and a great opportunity for the less privileged’
