The first edition of this great and assiduous program took place in August 2020. 

It was initiated by the Hon Mario Mr. Calabash to mark the celebration of illustrious women and is tagged "Eche-Enyiene."

This fun-filled and educating festival is made of different thrilling and enthusiastic programs which include;

Age-Grade Displays: 

One unique aspect of the Eche-Enyiene is the age-grade program exhibition. Here, Different age groups (known as regberegbes) compete to showcase their costumes, dance, music, and acrobatic skills during the parade, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere and thrilling the entire audience, leaving everyone on their feet.

Royalty and Nobility: 

The festival attracts prominent personalities including traditional rulers in Kogi Central and from neighboring towns and cities. This gathering of royalty and nobility adds a touch of grandeur to the event.

CULTURAL DISPLAY:

The rich  Traditional and cultural displays at the event such as myriads of dances by various musical acts, and outings of masquerades,  are what add flavor to the program.  These entertain and educate attendees about the rich and valuable cultural heritage of the Ebira people.

Women, adorned in colorful attire, display their equestrian skills to the delight of the audience. The sight of galloping horses adds an exciting element to the celebration.

Womanhood is a great thing in the entire length and breadth of Ebira land and the SSA on Entertainment, Kogi Central to Kogi State Governor, Hon Ismail Abdulrahman Obansa who is popularly called Mr.Calabash made an educating and enlightening remark on the occasion of  The Eche Enyene which is the mother of all festivals in the entire Ebira land.

Community Bonding: 

the SSA on Entertainment Kogi Central to Kogi State Governor, Hon Ismail Abdulrahman Obansa who is popularly called Him Calabash promotes unity and community development. It serves as a platform for Ebira indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to come together, reconnect, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

In reviving the festival which has become a flagship of hospitality in the entire Kogi State and North Central Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria, Hon Calabash made sure that the 2023 edition was channeled to pray for the success of Alh.  Ododo Ahmed Usman and Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu as the executive governor and deputy governor respectively come November 11, 2023.

Trade and Commerce:

The event also provides an opportunity for local traders to showcase their products and services. There is a vibrant market where attendees can purchase traditional weaving, clothing, food, and other goods.





The Eche-Enyiene has gained international recognition, attracting tourists from different parts of Nigeria and beyond. It offers a unique cultural experience and serves as a platform for cultural exchange and understanding.
