HON. OHIARE RECEIVES OKEHI FULANI LEADERS ON SOLIDARITY VISIT; FARMERS & HERDERS ISSUES ADDRESSED AMICABLY.
In Okehi Local Government today, the Council Chairman, Hon Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare received on courtesy visit the Fulani Ward heads and Leaders resident in Okehi LGA.
After expressing their solidarity to the incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello led administration especially in terms of security, they also stated their resolve to support the APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Alh Ododo Ahmed Usman in the November 11th Gubernatorial elections.
Thereafter, security matters took centre stage of the interface.
As a follow up of the earlier visit, the lingering disputes between the Fulani herdsmen and Farmers in Ihima were finally laid to rest through the peace and conflict resolution propensity of the Council Chairman of Okehi Local Government.
After duly listening to the complaints of the Ebira Farmers as against Fulani Herders in terms of crops destruction and theft of their crops chiefly amongst other complaints, the Fulani Leaders responded responsibly and promised to ensure such menaces were brought to a halt.
All smiles home today, when the God's chosen Chief Security Officer of Okehi LGA, Hon. Ohiare settled the disputes convincingly where the opposing parties honoured the Council Chairman's resolution prowess.
Meanwhile, an MoU was established between the Herders and the Farmers which is capable of preventing further occurrences.
At the end, both parties appreciates the Council Chairman's resolution on the matter and promised to abide by the settlement in entirety.
