Dr. Abdullahi Bello aka Dollar Holds Strategic Political Engagement with Adeika Clan
The Adeika Clan of Adavi Local Government Area yesterday hosted a significant political engagement with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Abdullahi Bello aka Dollar, bringing together prominent traditional, political and community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders to deliberate on issues concerning the political future of Adavi, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement provided an avenue for open discussion, consultation and strategic conversation on political representation, succession and the longstanding rotational understanding governing the distribution of elective political positions within Adavi.
The gathering was widely attended by sons and daughters of Adeika Clan, including political leaders
, community stakeholders, youths and women. Participants expressed their views on the prevailing political arrangements in Adavi and emphasised the importance of maintaining peace, consultation, inclusiveness and unity in the management of political affairs within the community.
Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner expressed his appreciation and delight at the warm reception accorded him by the Adeika Clan. He particularly acknowledged the leadership and contributions of Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami and Adayi Osondo, commending them for their roles in providing direction and leadership within the clan.
The Commissioner paid glowing tribute to the memories and political contributions of distinguished Adavi leaders, including Alhaji (Da’udu) Badamasuiy and Alhaji A. O. Omeiza, among others. He described them as leaders whose commitment, political maturity and sense of responsibility contributed significantly to the development of Adavi and the wider Ebira community.
In his historical presentation, the Commissioner traced the evolution of political representation in Adavi, explaining the various instances in which political offices had been occupied by different clans in accordance with what he described as a longstanding rotational understanding.
He noted that such arrangements had historically served as an important mechanism for maintaining political balance, inclusiveness and relative stability within Adavi. He therefore encouraged stakeholders across the various clans to continue engaging one another through dialogue and consultation whenever questions of political succession and representation arise.
The Commissioner cautioned against actions capable of undermining the peace and unity that have characterised political relationships within Adavi, stressing the need for political stakeholders to prioritise the collective interest of the community above individual ambitions.
The Commissioner also used the occasion to speak on the political outlook ahead of the 2027 elections, calling on stakeholders across Adavi to remain engaged with the broader political process. In his remarks, he urged the people to support the candidacies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for the Senate, and Muhammad Ahovi Yusuf for the House of Representatives, presenting them as candidates whose elections, in his view, would advance the interests of the people. He emphasised the importance of unity, consultation and peaceful participation as the 2027 electoral process approaches.
Addressing specific concerns raised by members of the Adeika Clan, the Commissioner assured the gathering that the issues and requests presented would be conveyed to the appropriate party leadership and to His Excellency, the Executive Governor, for consideration.
A major issue raised during the engagement was the need for greater inclusion of qualified sons and daughters of Adeika Clan in political appointments and public service opportunities. Several speakers appealed to government and party leadership to consider the large number of qualified but unemployed young people and professionals from the clan when future opportunities for appointments and employment arise.
The speakers emphasised that greater representation of capable young people and professionals would not only strengthen their participation in governance but also contribute to the socioeconomic development of the community.
The engagement was characterised by extensive consultations, historical reflections and frank exchanges on the political direction of Adavi ahead of 2027. It further underscored the importance of sustained dialogue among the various clans and political stakeholders in preserving peace, equity and unity within the local government.
The meeting was attended by notable political leaders and government appointees, including Adayi Osondo, Hon. Danga, former Commissioner for Water Resources, political leaders and stakeholders from Adeika Clan, community leaders and elders, youth representatives and women representatives.
The meeting ended with renewed calls for continued consultation, peaceful political engagement and collective efforts toward the development and stability of Adavi Local Government Area.
